I am constantly striving to improve the eating habits of my family at home. My quest is to purchase as many organic foods and locally grown foods as possible. This quest was inspired by Chef Jay of ZGourmet who cooked for our family for a few years in Ohio. He helped to bring healthier eating habits into our home. He also gave me cooking lessons before I had to leave Ohio. I was able to use the skills and knowledge I gained from him and from my own research to perpetuate this healthy style of eating. I previously found new inspiration from our weekly box from the Virginia Green Grocer. They have since gone out of business. Each week they hand-delivered a completely different box of vegetables, beautiful herbs, fresh milk, and fresh eggs. I would find new ways to use this farm fresh food each week. Then I spent my time trying to find inspiration from local farms and farmers markets. In the most recent years I decided to shift to growing most of my own herbs and many of my own vegetables. I found the flavor and quality of getting fresh food from containers on my deck to be unrivaled. I will try to post as many pictures as I can of the foods we create and the ingredient lists for each meal. I hope you enjoy the pictures, the snack ideas, and the meal ideas.
Sounds delicious!
